John, that's a great point.

I'll be heading to Kenya next month, and I plan on taking a few "cheap" digital cameras with me. One of my goals is to convince and train a few dedicated photo journalists to upload pictures for AfriGadget.

An African by him/her self will find more in a day than I could in a week as an mzungu. I hope it works out!

Ethan Zuckerman wrote about how being an advocate for Africa increasingly means point to what people in Africa are saying.

Access to the Internet is a whole lot harder there. But still people are getting used to the idea that their voices can be heard by way of the Internet, even if they can't always use it. This blog is a great platform, and Flickr is great. Hardly anyone reads my blog, and yet some of the pictures I've posted from Flickr on my blog have gotten a hundred or more hits.

I'm so looking forward to getting my friends in Uganda to post pictures. It may take a little while, but this is going to be great.
