spit roast in Mali

You know you’re in Mali when it’s too hot in the sun and come up with an electrified spit roast that will do the job for you.

As seen by our friend Mischel at campement Woloni in Sélingué, Mali. Thx!

Very cool – I want one of those – to roast my vegetarian roasts of course…

This reminds me very much of a device we have in our history museum (midwest US)that was used to turn a spit over the fireplace. Ours is called a “clock jack” and works by a weight on a chain turning a gearing system. It’s neat to think that people from all over the world and from all times are finding similar clever solutions to their similar problems.
